The new MacBook Air won the hearts of many people, but for now, it has to give up the top position. Which notebook is currently scratching the throne of the champion and why are so many customers on Amazon buying this one model now?
In the last few weeks and months, the current MacBook Air with Apple’s M1 chip reliably claimed first place among the notebook bestsellers on Amazon. In general, Apple was able to enjoy the popularity of the Mac in the first few months of the year, with the growth of over 100 percent speaking for itself. At the moment, however, the largest online shop in this country is focusing on a different notebook model. This unceremoniously pushes the Apple computer backward.
Lenovo IdeaPad Duet beats MacBook Air on Amazon
The new challenger is the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet, a Chromebook for currently 249 euros – shipping included. A Chromebook, of all things, the extremely inexpensive counter-design from Google to the relatively expensive MacBook (currently on Amazon from 1,039 euros ). How could such a “cheap device” dethrone the Air? We dare to make an assessment.
The price: Chromebooks are cheap in themselves. The Lenovo IdeaPad Duet is nowhere as cheap as on Amazon. Elsewhere it costs over 280 euros, at well-known retailers even over 300 euros. At Amazon, however, we only pay 249 euros – a temporary price promotion for a few days. One thing is clear: Those who are interested in the model are currently buying the majority of them from Amazon.
To buy?
So is it worth buying the current bestseller from Amazon? Depends on. Lenovo IdeaPad Duet and MacBook Air are only comparable to a limited extent. If you are dependent on certain Windows or Mac programs, you should stay away from it, and (fast) Internet is also an obligation.
If you can come to terms with it, Chromebooks like the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet or the Acer Spin 311 are worth considering for certain target groups. Beginners, in particular, will be delighted. By the way, if you are looking for something similar at Apple, you have to grab the iPad. But not only with a keyboard, but it is also still a lot more expensive.
